A study on morphology structure of leaf epidermis and vessel elements of thegenus Rubus in Heilongjiang were conducted with scanning electron microscope(SEM).The results are as following:(1) The upper epidermal cells of Rubus polygonal, with anticlinal wall strait,or thecells of upper epidermis are irregular-shaped,with anticlinal sinuolate. Six types oftrichomes are recognized in this study, as unicelluar straight non-glandularhairs,unicelluar curled non-glandular hairs,Cone short pubescence, Multi-columnstraight wall acuminate hair, capitate and peltate glandular hairs. Stomatal apparatus arelocated in lower epidermis, all of them are anomocytic,uni-layered outer stomatalrim, smooth or irregular-undulate inner margin of outer stomatal ledge.Discusses thecorrelation of leaf epidermis characteristics and classification, leaf epidermischaracteristics and environment adaptability. The differences in the leafmicromorphology of these species threw lights on the systematics of Rubus L.(2) The length of vessel elements are between400μm and598.2μm,the width ofvessel elements are between19.4μm and46.5μm.In the types of pits of vessel elementsare alternate pitting.except for R.humilifolius,On the wall of the vessel elements arecircular or mesh projection. The slope angle of the end wall of the vessel elements arebetween13.9oand39.6o.Both ends of the vessel elements have the tail, except forR.chamaemorus, which has longer tail than other species. The tail of vessel elements arerelatively short.Discusses the correlation of vessel elements characteristics andclassification, vessel elements characteristics and environment adaptability. There aresignificant differences in the size and distribution of pit of vessel elements. The growthof Rubus in the arid environment compared with the species which living in the wettype of environment, vessel elements width is wider, the end wall inclination angle islarger.
