Modern engineering systems are developing towards larger and more complicat-ed scale. Hence, the control systems has been led to greater attention. The problemof observer design, as one of the core issues of control theory, has wide applicationsin engineering, and many researchers have been focusing their attentions on thisissue. The problem of observer design for a class of multi-output nonlinear systemsis investigated. The full text includes the following three chapters.Chapter one mainly introduces the development of nonlinear system, and thedesign methods of observer designs for nonlinear systems.Chapter two generally introduces the basic knowledge about the theory ofLuenberger observer and the Lyapunov stabilization.Chapter three studies a new observer design approach for a class of lineartime-varying multi-output systems. Furthermore, the new approach is extended toa class of multi-output nonlinear systems. The proposed approach is an extensionof classical linear design techniques, using transformations based on time-varyingobservability matrices. Some sufcient conditions for the existence of the proposedobserver are obtained. These sufcient conditions guarantee that the error of stateestimation converges asymptotically to zero.
