Design And Implementation Of Rule Driven Based Geographic Information Metadata Management System

In recent years, the way how to manage the vast amounts of geographicinformation and improve efficiency in the use and searching of the information hasalready become the international hot subject in the computer industry. In geographicinformation system, metadata management system is a tool for information integrationand how to design an efficient and useful geographic information metadata managementsystem is one of the key problems to be resolved.In this paper, a variety of entity map data and traditional metadata managementsystems are analyzed. To overcome the disadvantages of traditional systems, an efficientand scalable geographic information metadata management is proposed, which is basedon rules-driven theory. The system classifies metadata of various spatial data byattributes and then writes into the XML configuration file. By Reading the configurationfiles, the system dynamically generate client interface to manage the metadata,including functions of storing metadata, query, displaying multifunctions, supportingmultiple data sources, customing version and directory tree, etc. Compared with thetraditional metadata management system, this system not only is easy to expand newdatas, but also improves the querying quality.In the implementation of the system mentioned above, open-source software Qt isused for developing the client, and DM for the database system, which is an domesticdatabase development software. The system is of completely cross-platform ability andexpansibility. The system has been realized in actual research project, and the resultshows that the system can operate stablly and efficiently, fully achieving the desiredresults. The realization of the system is of great significance in the nationalized researchof metadata management software.
