Paederus fuscipes, belonging to the genus Paederus of the Staphylinidae family, isfound all over the world except Antarctica. Their body contains a strong toxin and theprevious pharmacological studies revealed that the pederin exhibited well-documentedpharmacological properties, such as causing dermatitis, preventing cell mitosis, antibiosisand anti-tumor in rodent. But literatures scarcely showed systematic chemical constituentsand thorough bioactivity studies on this species. Therefore, we took studies to this species onseparating and identifying its chemical compositions systematically, as well as cytotoxicactivity screening in virto, aimed at discovering compounds with good anti-tumor activity, and laying the foundation for the development of anti-tumor drugs. The systematical chemical study on this species which was collected from DanringMountain, led to the isolation and purification of seven chemical constituents from theextract through TLC, Sephadex LH-20and HPLC. And three of them were further identifiedbylDand2D-NMR,includingCholest-5-en-3-ol’>(-E)-(E)-pentadec-9-en-l-yl-pentadec-9-enoateand(E)-(E)-pentadec-9-en-l-yl-pentadec-9-enoate. These three compounds were purifiedfrom this species for the first time. The all seven compounds were evaluated for cytotoxic activities against four humancancer cell lines, A549-、HCT116、MDAMB-435and ZR-75-30by MTT assay. However,th’ese seven compounds didnt show anti-tumor activities against these cell lines.
