Based on the Interacting Boson Model, the SU(3) quadrupole-quadrupole interaction is replaced by the new O(6) cubic interaction to study the properties of176Os and178Os nuclei, and further compare the results with the experimental data.First, taking the176Os and178Os nuclei as the choices of X(5) nuclei to study the properties in a mass far from A=150region.Second, the energy levels and energy ratios are studied. The fit parameters are decided. The energy levels and energy ratios for ground-band, p-band, y-band with176Os and178Os nuclei were calculated in two different schemes. We draw the energy spectrum and compare the theoretical values with the experimental data. It is found that the results can be improved by using the new O(6) cubic interaction, especially for the ground band, compared with the SU(3) quadrupole-quadrupole interaction. Finally, the B(E2) and ratios for intra-band and inter-band transitions are studied. The theoretical results show the transitions are weak from β band to ground band and strong from y band to ground band in the new schemes, which are consistent with the experimental data.In a word, the O(6) cubic interaction can better describe the characters of X(5) nuclei than those of the SU(3) quadrupole-quadrupole interaction.
