| The Interacting Boson Model (IBM) is a very successful algebraic theory for describing low-lying collective properties of nuclei. The Hamiltonian of this model is con-structed with s and d boson operators, which preserves the overall U(6) symmetry. The IBM Hamiltonian can be diagonalized analytically in the U(5), SU(3), and O(6) limit cases. When the Hamiltonian is written in terms of invariant operators of different group chains, it can also be numerically diagonalized, with which the transitional behavior from one shape to another can be analyzed. In this thesis, based on the Fortran code established in the SU(3) basis compiled by our group, transitional behaviors of some physical quantities, especially EO transition rates, in the U(5)(?) O(6) transitional region are studied. Energy spectra and some EO and E2transitional rates of102-110pd are calculated and compared with the corresponding experimental results. |
