In recent years, China’s economic development has made remarkable achievements. However, the rapid growth of the industrial economy mainly depends on the the extensive inputs or outward expansion of the factors of production, so transformation of the development pattern of the industrial economy has become a key to decide the long-term sustainable development of China’s economy. Especially after the financial crisis, the pressure of China’s industrial upgrading is growing. To upgrade the industry value chain, enterprises should attach much importance to technological innovation.How to control the balance of good exploitation and exploration activities in the wave of industrial upgrading, as well as to verify what kind of balance can meet short-term performance and long-term development needs of enterprises, are both important and basic problems.This paper made empirical analysis using data between2008and2010, based on68China’s A-share listed companies in the pharmaceutical industry. After empirical analysis, we draw the some important research conclusions. First, the heterogeneity of corporate executive team is conducive to the balance of corporate exploration and exploitation. Second, strategic dual can mediate the relationship between Heterogeneity of Top Management Team and organizational performance. Third, the balance of exploration and exploitation is positively related to organizational performance. Last but not least, exploitation activities can positively regulate the relationship between exploration and organizational performance. According to the results of the empirical analysis, the paper put forward some policy recommendations for Chinese enterprises to achieve coordination match between the strategic decision-making and surrounding environment in the process of industrial upgrading. |
