The reality of job mobility in China’s labor market is not in line with expectations. The job mobility not only lies in the low level, but fails to achieve income growth, which makes the research of job mobility practically essential. In order to explore the relationship among job mobility, human capital, social capital, income and labor market segmentation, the thesis analyzes the influencing factors of job mobility and the effect of job mobility on income. Using documentation method, interviewing method and Stata statistical analysis technique, we conduct theoretical analysis and empirical analysis on the basis of the data from CGSS2008.The study in the thesis includes two aspects. On the one hand, the thesis studies the influencing factors of job mobility and compares the effects of human capital and social capital on the job mobility of different groups. The study finds that the job mobility of the labor force has been affected by both human capital and social capital. From the perspective of education, the job mobility of labor with higher education has been affected by human capital, instead of social capital, while those without higher education have been affected by social capital, instead of human capital. From the perspective of hukou, the job mobility of labor with urban hukou or rural hukou has been affected by both human capital and social capital. On the other hand, the thesis studies the effect of job mobility on income and compares the effect of job mobility, human capital and social capital on income of different groups. The study finds that job mobility has a significant positive effect on income. From the perspective of education, the income of labor with higher education is positively affected by the human capital and job mobility, instead of social capital, while the income of labor without higher education is mainly affected by human capital and social capital. From the perspective of hukou, the income of labor with urban hukou is positively affected by human capital and social capital, while the income of labor with rural hukou is affected by human capital and job mobility. The innovation of the thesis is that we put forward the standard of labor market segmentation based on the empirical results. The labor force with higher education shows the same characters with the primary labor market, while the labor force without higher education is consistent with the secondary labor market considering the empirical results. However, the labor force with urban hukou and rural hukou don’t show the differences between the primary and secondary labor market. Therefore, Higher education is more suitable to be an effective standard of labor market segmentation, while the hukou status which was widely accepted is not accordance with the standard of labor market segmentation. The standard of labor market segmentation has transferred from hukou status to higher education, which implies the trend from the institutional labor market segmentation to the technical labor market segmentation.Combined with the empirical results and the situation of the labor market, we come up with several policy proposals. First, improve the foundation of the employment information system and reduce the role of social capital in the transmission of information of the job mobility. Second, improve the fairness of higher education, increase the effectiveness of human capital and reduce dependence on social capital. Third, Phase out the restrictions on hukou, narrow the gap on the social capital between urban and rural labor and eliminate additional revenue enjoyed by the urban labor.
