Company performance is the problem shareholders are most concerned about, because it isdirectly related to its ability to continue operating and surplus value can be obtained by shareholders.Company performance is higher, more surplus value can be obtained by shareholders. The conceptof corporate governance has emerged but thirty years, but with the with the development andimprovement of the modern enterprise, corporate governance theory has gradually become animportant part of company operation. Because the relevant scholars study shows that corporategovernance and corporate performance are closely linked, good corporate governance caneffectively improve the performance of the company, and the company performance also can be inturn to measure the level of corporate governance. Electric power industry is not only related to thecountry’s economic development but also people’s daily lives, compared with other industries, thestable operation of the power industry and the sustainable development is very important of thewhole society. Therefore, the relationship between the status quo and both corporate governanceand performance analysis of the power industry,and puts forward the corresponding suggestions forimprovement, make the power industry to raise the level of corporate governance and the electricpower industry company performance to improve has great significance.In this paper, by the method of empirical analysis, selected in the29power companies listedon Shanghai Stock Exchange as samples, selects11financial indicators, from the ownershipstructure, board of directors, the incentive and three aspects of the relationship between corporategovernance and corporate performance, and puts forward the corresponding improvementsuggestions according to the results of the analysis.
