The Risk Efficiency Analysis Of Chinese Listed Shipping Companies

Since the20th century, as the basic industry which has promoted economic integration of the world and supported the international trade globalization, the shipping industry has made a significant contribution to the rapid growth of the world economy. China’s shipping industry is playing an important role in the international shipping market.Because of the subprime crisis and Europe’s debt crisis, the world economic has suffered great change and pains. Because of the shipping industry itself is a special high-risk industries, engulfed the global economic crisis has had a tremendous impact on China’s shipping industry, for example, the industry-wide downturn, more serious loss.Shipping industry is essential to modern logistics, while its healthy and sustainable development issignificant foroptimizing the economic structure, increasing economic ef ficiency.This paper analyzes thirteen shippingcompanies’operating efficiency by using the D EA, based on the datum from2010to2012. With the help of DEA method, those compa nies are analyzed and compared from three areas:cost efficiency, solvency risk efficien cy and operating efficiency. After serious consideration, this paper chooses net assets, net value of fixed assets, main business cost, current liability,total liability, accounts r eceivable to analyze the risk efficiency of those compnies. Meanwhile, this paper also analyzes the efficiency of the companies through CCR-DEA of MAXDEA5.0, and shows us the management enchmarking of quantitative efficiency under different situations. Transverse and longitudinal comparisons between those shipping companies are analyzed. To some extent, this method is operable.Combined with DEA method, this paper carries out the research on the efficiency of t he listed port enterprises and helps us to know their efficiency. By studying the result, w e can make a reasonable business strategy and promote the progress of economic.
