Industrial cluster is a long-standing phenomenon, researchers both at home andabroad have focused on small and medium-sized enterprises clusters. However, withthe development of the economic globalization and regional integration, cluster regionis no longer a closed system. As an important organizer of world economic activity,MNCs is the link of clusters and the outside world. The formation and development ofChina’s automobile industrial clusters is also closely linked with the mechanism ofaction of MNCs. These MNCs joint ventures to participate in the development ofChina’s automobile industry in different locations, which bringing a large number ofcapital, talents, technology knowledge and management experience, coordinating thedevelopment of upstream and downstream enterprises, and promoting the optimizationand upgrading of industrial scale, product system and competition pattern. At the sametime, due to MNCs’ overall strategy is based on the perspective of globalization, sometimes they may ignore China’s interests, firmly in control of core technology and market, which makes China’s automobile enterprises be put to a disadvantage place. Therefore, the clusters of China’s automobile industry should face up to both thepositive and negative influences of MNCs, actively guide the MNCs to invest and setup factories to seek cooperation with the MNCs, so as to find out a right way to itsfuture development. On the basis of relevant research, this article combines theory and practice. It usesfive parts to expound the mechanism of MNCs’ influences on China’s automobileindustrial clusters. The first part is the analysis of MNCs’ influences on industrial clusters. Theauthor analyzes the influences from two angles. To industrial clusters, differentdevelopment stages and different types of clusters have different characteristics, themechanism of MNCs’ influences are also different. To MNCs, their different strategicmotives and entry modes will also have the distinctive influences mechanism. Theanalysis of this part is the theoretical basis of practical problems. The second part is the analysis of MNCs’ entry to China’s automobile industry.Firstly, this part introduces the development status and characteristics of China’sautomobile industrial clusters, which pointing out the stages and types of China’s automobile industrial clusters. Secondly, this part also analyzes the situation of MNCs’entry, which summing up the strategic motives and entry modes of MNCs. This partand the first part have mutual echo, which providing an important basis for theresearch of the mechanism of MNCs’ influences on China’s automobile industrialclusters in the next section. The third and the fourth parts are the analysis of MNCs’ influences on China’sautomobile industrial clusters. The author explains this analysis from both the positiveand the negative effects. The third part explains the positive impacts of MNCs onChina’s automobile industrial clusters from three aspects. Firstly, through theirdemonstration effect, the MNCs provide power for the integration of essentialproductive factors and relevant industries. Secondly, the MNCs play technologyspillover effect, which promote technological progress and improvement of scientificresearch ability of China’s automobile industrial clusters. Thirdly, MNCs help to adjustthe industrial structure, enhance the scale effect of China’s automobile industry, andimprove the product structure, vehicle system and market structure.Next, the fourth part lists the negative impact of MNCs on China’s automobileindustrial clusters from three aspects. Firstly, MNCs’ control of core enterprises limits technical progress of China’s automobile industrial clusters. Secondly, MNCs’ controlof joint ventures’ decision-making power puts China’s automobile industrial clustersinto a passive position in the joint ventures. Thirdly, MNCs’ control of car market’sshare and profit squeezes out the development space of China’s automobile industrialclusters. This two parts of the study provide a useful reference for the future path ofChina’s automobile industrial clusters in the next part. The fifth part is the conclusion and policy recommendations. At first, the authorsummarizes the whole article. Then gives four suggestions of promoting China’sautomobile industrial clusters, including to improve the investment environment, utilize foreign capital according to the industrial clusters’ thinking, strengthen the roleof automobile groups and enhance the independent research&development capabilityand core competitiveness. The study of this part puts forward some targeted programsfor China’s automobile industrial clusters’ future development, which have a certainguiding significance. The innovation of this paper lies in the following three aspects. Firstly, the paperintroduces MNCs as the research object to analyze the problems of industrial clusters;this research perspective is very novel. Secondly, the paper analyzes MNCs’ influences on industrial clusters from two angles; this theoretical analysis is systemic andcomprehensive. Thirdly, the paper combines theory with practice, according to thespecific situation of China’s automobile industrial clusters, pertinently puts forwardsome policy recommendations for the development of China’s automobile industrialclusters, which has guiding significance. The deficiency of this paper lies in the following two aspects. Firstly, this papermainly uses a large amount of qualitative analysis, but the quantitative analysis is less,so the study on the issues is not deep enough; Secondly, due to limited conditions, thecollected datum is not complete.
