A Study On The Optimization Of The Export Commodity Structure Of Hebei Province

The structure of export commodity is one of the main indicators in measuring the stageof development of a regional foreign trade. For obtaining more benefits in international trade,it will be required to continuously optimize export structure, especially the optimization ofexport commodity structure. Since the reform and opening up, especially after joining theWTO, the export commodity structure in Hebei Province occurred to a more substantialimprovement. Simultaneously, it is exposed some problems, especially after the outbreak ofthe financial crisis in2008, subjecting to the deterioration of the international environment,such as the implementation of national trade protection policy, the sharp fluctuations of theCNY exchange rate, the aggravated domestic labor costs, as well as the rising costs of rawmaterials, fuel, transportation in domestic and foreign market. The import and export of HebeiProvince, are confronted with a greater adverse impact on scale and structure, so it hasimportant research value and practical significance to improve the international tradeenvironment, enhance the international competitiveness of export commodities, and get moretrade interests by optimizing export commodity structure.This paper uses a combination of theoretical and empirical method to analyze the mainfactors affecting the optimization of the export commodity structure of Hebei Provinceincluding endowment structure, FDI, technological progress and the exchange rate. Theresults of this research show that "On one hand, when factor endowment structure, FDI andthe CNY exchange rate are at a certain level, as well as the continuous advancement oftechnology, it is conducive to the upgrade of the export commodity structure of HebeiProvince. On the other hand, the factor endowment structure and FDI are still in the marginaleffect of incremental interval, along with continuous R&D investment and the necessity toimprove the formation mechanism of CNY exchange rate." Considering these factors, wepresent some recommendations to optimize Hebei`s export commodity structure.
