With the mergers of large-scale foreign trade and joint-stock reform, the proportion of small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises in China’s export-oriented enterprises is increasing year by year, and gradually occupy half of the export trade. However, the small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises to the prevalence of small scale, the strength is not strong, weak capital, risk awareness, lack of competitive advantage, strategic vision and vague. The above causes a potential risk of business failure of small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises. With the influx of foreign-funded enterprises, the shift in the international market environment, small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises is bound as soon as possible to find the mode of long-term development strategy for the company.This article details the foreign and domestic small and medium-sized enterprises, foreign trade enterprises and small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises in the strategic studies literature, both theoretical discourse, there are a lot of practice literature, at the same time, the course of development of strategic theory, discusses the strategic management point of view, are the main points and limitations of the competitive potential theory, the main points and limitations of the resource-based theory, the theory of power capacity. Organization to protect small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises to implement the above strategy model must be done in theory, the concept of security and system security and other basic work.In this paper, A foreign trade company, as the case analysis by the difficulties faced by Firm A, given China’s small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises to implement the measures of strategic planning, focusing on description of the strategic mode selection process.
