The Development Model Of Public Tourism Research In China

Volun-tourism is a new tourism type combining philanthropy and tourism, which emphasize doing something beneficial to local people, especially in poor or needed districts. For volun-tourism, tourists can not only travel, but also can communicate with local people and do something to help them; organizer helps local people and enriches the experience of the tourist, stimulates their philanthropy mind, too; it protects local people’s profits, protecting local culture or enhancing lacal people’s living level. In a word, volun-tourism is a helpful and sustainable tourism and has great potential to develop.At first, the thesis compared the difference between foreign volun-tourism and Chinese volun-tourism in theroy study and practical development aspects, and then give the definition of volun-tourism:A tourism aims to be beneficial to local people which takes place in poor or other needed districts, attended by some of the tourists, tourism organizer, destination government, local people or local tourism company. Based on the definition, we analyzed the relationship between volun-tourism and mass tourism, alternative tourism, ecological tourism, pro-poor tourism, volunteer travel, and then we analyzed volun-tourism with supply-demand theory, incentive theory and stakeholder theory, which made a theoretical basis for continued study.According to the development of volun-tourism, we conclude three volun-toursim development style:volun-tourist leading type, volun-tourism organizer leading type and volun-tourism destination leading type. After dividing the three type, we analyzed each type’s relative merits individually. Then we establish the volun-tourism primarily, we believe Chinese volun-tourism is mainly transforming from tourists leading to oganizer leading mode, and we think NGO-travell agency combined oganizer is good to volun-toursim. We analyzed the destination stakeholders and explored the conditions of their cooperration.Then we analyzed three types using three case:1kg case, from tourists leading to NGO leading; Chinese heart volunteer team’s voluntourism, NGO organizer leading; and Yu-beng village tourism, local people leading case. According to analyzing three case with supply-demand theory, incentive theory and stakeholder theory, we explore their success and deficiency.At last, we have a summery:destination does not positively paticipate in the former two type, local government dominents the third type. Tourists, tourism organizer, destination government, local people or local tourism company should attain some equilibrium. We give some suggestions, including avoiding the definition of voluntourism expansion, developing voluntourism which suits local circumstance and some effective promotion and so on.
