Study On The Development Of The Direct Navigation Of The Ro-Ro Passenger Ship In Taiwan Strait

With the development of our country’s maritime transport, high-speed Ro-Ro passenger ships which are advantaged by their high-speed, passenger and cargo together transport and high-tech equipment are gradually recognized by people and get rapid development. Now they have become an indispensable part of the coastal, strait passenger and cargo transportation.On July2,2010, ARATS which is shorted for Association for Relations across the Taiwan Straits and Straits Exchange Foundation formally signed the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement which is short for EFCA. The signing of this agreement marks the official coming of the time of the "three links" between the two sides of the Taiwan straits. In response to the development of the "three links" policy, our country has established Pingtan comprehensive experimental plot in Fujian. The main purpose of this is to develop the exchanges of the trade and economic between two sides. And now with the implementation of the policy, the development of Pingtan and the use of "HAI XIA HAO", high-speed Ro-Ro passenger ship reflects great prospects for development in Taiwan Strait.This thesis mainly aims at the research of the development of the Ro-Ro passenger ship in Taiwan Strait. Firstly, there was an introduction of the related concepts and condition of the high-speed Ro-Ro passenger ship, its transportation and distribution and so on. Secondly, I had a brief description of the situation of the direct navigation and the economic and political appeals between the two sides in Taiwan Strait. What’s more, I had a quantitative predict about the passenger demand across the Strait. Thirdly, there was a simple introduction about the climate and hydrological characteristics in Taiwan Strait, and I also analyzed the current sailing route status of it. Fourthly, I took the high-speed passenger Ro-Ro ship—"HAI XIA HAO" as an example, and introduced its background, operation characters and hinterland situations. Then I had a comprehensive analysis of its operating economy and voyage economy. Finally, through the introduction and analysis of the previous chapters, I had a few constructive suggestions to the development of the high-speed Ro-Ro passenger ship in Taiwan Strait. Lastly, I summarized this thesis and had a prospection about it.Finally, through the analysis of this thesis, we can sum up that with the development of the economy and trade in Taiwan Strait and the construction of the strait zone development plan and policy by our party and country, the high-speed Ro-Ro passenger ship with its superior performance, passenger and cargo together transport and the characteristics of high speed, can blossom extraordinary splendor in Taiwan Strait.
