A Study On Contemporary College Students’ Unemployment

Marx’s relative surplus population theory is associated with capitalist society’s capital accumulation and organic composition of capital’s increasing, aiming to reveal the basic contradiction of capitalist society, criticize capitalist system and explore inherent law of capitalist mode of production. As a law of population, Marx’s relative surplus population theory is not only the capitalist law of population, but also the commodity economy’s general law of population. Marx thought that the surplus population would disappear with the demise of capitalism, and socialism didn’t exist out of work. But socialism’s fundamental realities of the country in the primary stage determines the existence of relative surplus population in our country. In recent years, with continuous college expansion and strategic adjustment of the social development pattern, college students’ unemployment rate is persistently high and employment pressure is growing. As college students’ unemployment has become one of the major problems to be urgently solved, China must take strong measures to alleviate negative effects of college students’ unemployment. Deeply understanding and grasping Marx’s relative surplus population theory, and regarding it as theoretical basis for research on the present college students’ unemployment problem, has important theoretical significance and practical significance.It needs to fully grasp the basic content of Marx’s relative surplus population theory through the angle of Marx’s relative surplus population theory to explore college students’ unemployment problem. This article systematically combs Marx’s relative surplus population theory’s cause, form, function and solution channel. Chinese primary stage of socialism still has relative surplus population, and college students’ unemployment problem is one of the specific manifestations of overall unemployment in our country. Nowadays, in our country, college students’ unemployment problem has many causes, such as not perfect employment system in the primary stage of socialism, unreasonable investment structure, technological improvement and labor productivity’s increase, the divorce of higher education and social needs. College students’ unemployment problem in our country has both the general reasons of relative surplus population and its own special reasons. The countermeasures to solve the problem of college students’ unemployment problem in China mainly include:perfect the college students’ employment system to improve college students’ employment rate; promote economic development to ensure college students’ employment outlook; optimize the industrial structure to develop students’ employment market; reform the mode of higher education to increase college students’ employment ability, etc.
