An Exploratory Study On The Firm Network Capability And Shenzhen Mobile Phone Industry Agility

With the rapid development of network economy, the mobile phone industry has been mature relatively. To achieve breakthrough progress of mobile phone industry, the mobile phone industry agility plays a crucial role. Network between enterprises has an important influence on the development of industry agility, enterprise network capability reflects the ability that enterprises use organization relationships to gain competitive advantages. Network between enterprises is considered to more adopt rich knowledge environment, so we need to further research the relationship between firm network capability and mobile phone industry agility. As Shenzhen has become global important mobile phone manufacturing R&D base and trade distribution center with complete mobile phone industry chain including R&D design, parts manufacturing, machine integration and wholesale sales, for example Shenzhen mobile phone industry chain, this thesis studies the relationship of firm network capability and Shenzhen mobile phone industry agility.Based on correlation theories of enterprise network, network capability, supply chain and supply chain agility,the thesis studies on the structure of Shenzhen mobile phone firm network capability and influence of industry chain agility with methods of literature research and grounded analysis. First of all, using grounded analysis, the thesis refines relevant category by open coding on case information and summaries the main category, then it mines core category by analyzing main category and other category, and constructs the formation model of Shenzhen mobile phone firm network capability. Secondly, by further studying the formation of firm network capability on Shenzhen mobile phone industry chain and literature information, the thesis proposes theoretical framework of Shenzhen mobile phone firm network capability. Finally, the thesis explores the influence of firm network capability dimension on Shenzhen mobile phone industry agility through refining behaviors of three firm network capabilities on Shenzhen mobile phone industry chain agility.The study shows that the formation model of Shenzhen mobile phone firm network capability is to plan cooperative relations firstly, then build relations with cooperative partners and further manage cooperative relations. Based on the result of grounded analysis, from the process perspective of network activity, Shenzhen mobile phone firm network capability constitutional dimension can be divided into network planning capability, network building capability and network managing capability. Network planning capability has positive impact in five dimensions of shortening R&D time, using production capacity, getting marketing channels or consumer loyalty, the complementary core capability and customer service; network building capability has positive influence on improving production capacity, getting marketing channels or consumer loyalty and the complementary core capability; network managing capability has positive impact in three dimensions, that is shortening R&D time, using production capacity, getting marketing channels or consumer loyalty.
