A Study On International Competitiveness Of Service Trade Between China And Russian

With the adjustment of industrial structure in the world, the pace of economic globalization is accelerating, the development of international trade in services are more and more flourishing, international trade in services enhanced its proportion in world trade, Service sector has become an essential part to the development of global economy. Because of the growing importance of service in economic growth, social employment and international trade, scholars from various countries do more researches on the service industry. To some extent, the international competitiveness of service industry has become an important indicator of a country’s economic development level and growth potential, the competitiveness of service industry has become an important aspect of the service economy research. Therefore, it is necessary to do a research on the international competitiveness of service industry. The thesis select China and Russian, which are both transition countries with similar development background and at the same stage of development, to compare the development level of service industry, in order to enhance rational understanding of China’s service competitiveness.First, this thesis describes the research background and significance of trade in services, and reviews domestic and foreign researches about service trade competitiveness. The second part of this thesis mainly introduces some concepts of services trade, and explains the main indicators used for service trade competitiveness evaluation. The third part compares and analyzes the development of service industry of China and Russian from the perspective of trade in service, GDP composition, proportion of employment, development speed. According to competitiveness evaluation index that the second part given, the fourth part use large amounts of data to analyze the international competitiveness of service industry in China and Russian as a whole, and conclude that China’s trade in service is superior to Russian overall. The fifth part use RCA and CA index to conduct a comparative analysis of the services sub-sector in China and Russian. The sixth part is to establish a regression model to analyze the influence factors of service trade competitiveness, using four impact factors(human capital, urbanization, foreign direct investment and development of trade in goods) to analyze the degree of influence to competitiveness, and point out that the total export of goods and the actual use of foreign direct investment have a positive impact on China’s service trade competitiveness, the level of urbanization has a negative impact, human capital does not have a significant impact on service trade competitiveness. According to the previous analysis, the last part proposes five measures to improve the competitiveness of China’s service trade:optimization of the service sector industrial structure; develop education and promote the accumulation of human capital; develop weak services industry such as licensing and patents; improve effectiveness of foreign direct investment and optimize the quality of resource endowments; deepen the reform of institutional mechanisms.
