This paper attempts to summarize relationships between science and technology for answering Needham Problem according to problem clues and the background of historical context based on literature of science history and original research results in recent years. The paper mainly explores problems:How is the relationships between science and technology in history? Which point is beginning fusion of western science and technology? Which way is relationships between science and technology to affect the development of Chinese science? What implications do relationships between science and technology give us? Historical relationships between science and technology can be summarized as follows:the parallel separation of science and technology---rowth of scientific knowledge and needs of society---science and technology fusion. History of science and technology relations with two clues:First, before the fusion phase of history of science--individual cases of science and technology connection in history; the second point is about the progress of quantity and quality of human scientific knowledge. Meanwhile, the paper analyzes tightness status of connection in different fields of science and technology. Conclusions are drawn on the basis of the above article:While Chinese ancient and modern technologies accumulate to a certain point, its slow development is interrupted due to the comparative advantages of civilization of suddenly development for the fusion performance of western science and technology.
