With economic development, people’s living standards have been significantlyimproved, but the ecological damage, resource shortages, environmental pollution andother issues are also increasingly prominent. In order to achieve the coordination ofresources and environment, economic, social development, long-term developmentand sustainable development, many countries have proposed a low-carbon economicdevelopment strategy, and put forward the ideas of “green consumerism”,“carbonconsumption”. China as a populous country, the resources is shortage, the productionalso belongs to the extensive production, and the consumer in recent years is notreasonable. Disposable consumption, excessive consumption and extravagantconsumption become serious. The contradiction that the needs of the people’s growingmaterial and cultural life and resources have been exhausted is becoming moreprominent. From the perspective of China’s national conditions, conform to the tide ofhistory, the development of low-carbon economy and carbon consumption are aroundthe corner, which have become the new tasks of the historical period in China. Thispaper uses the empirical analysis and qualitative analysis as the main researchmethods, evaluates the degree of China’s low-carbon of consumption, discusses therational assumption and proposes consumer behavior should be obtained on thescientific rationality. As factors affect people’s behavior, prices, income are the directfactors to influence consumer behavior and time costs, product quality, nationalpolicy are the indirect factors. At last, explores the ways of promoting consumption oflow-carbon.
