With the continuous development of the financial market and the constantchanges of macroeconomic situation, the operating environment of the commercialbanks in China has been undergoing a profound transformation. To exploredevelopment strategies suited to their own situation is the inevitable choice of China’scommercial banks facing changes of business environment. Experience shows thatstrategic choice on the development of the commercial banks would be a long-termproject. From the operating perspective, although financial situation of commercialbanks is much the same, there is a difference in terms of their own developmentmodel and stages of development, thus, many differences would absolutely occur inselecting the goals of the development strategy, the specific content, andimplementation strategy as well as ways inevitably. Ability to develop an appropriatedevelopment strategy based on their actual development characteristics is essential tothe future business development of the commercial banks.By virtue of the wide network distribution and capital adequacy, Postal SavingsBank of China, Jilin Branch, has achieved some successes in the area of businessdevelopment since its establishment. As the network continues to increase and thescale continues to expanse, several problems have become more obvious, such as,single product type of business, poor financial innovation capacity, lack ofprofessionals, the imperfect marketing system, the inadequate network service andlow ability of risk management, which have hindered the development of their own operations to some extent. In addition, the late start and the increasingly fiercecompetition of the industry make Postal Savings Bank of China, Jilin Branch facehuge challenges in the development process. Therefore, if it wants to change thissituation and narrow the gap with its peers, it must intensify the reform andimplement development strategies suited to its own circumstances, based on referenceto the development experience of other commercial banks. This thesis focuses on howPostal Savings Bank of China, Jilin Branch could give full play to their ownadvantages and overcome the disadvantages and how it could seize the opportunity toenhance the competitive strength, and ensure the sustained and stable development.The thesis summarized main achievements and the main problems of the PostalSavings Bank of China, Jilin Branch since its foundation, listing the various factors ofinternal and external environment, also analyzing the possible impact could be caused.This thesis focuses on advantages and disadvantages, as well as the opportunities andthreats facing the external environment. With SWOT analysis method we concentrateon future development direction. By comparison and analysis, according to their owncharacteristics we work out the idea of development and determination of the specificstrategic positioning of Postal Savings Bank of China, Jilin Branch, which arevigorously building a comprehensive financial service network covering both urbanand rural areas, improving the development of the SME market, conducting businessrelying in national policy for the "three rural". We also propose a number ofimplementation strategies, such as accelerating product innovation, strengtheningworkforce quality construction, innovating marketing model, improving service levels,strengthening the incentive and restrictive mechanism to protect the implementationof the development strategy of Postal Savings Bank of China, Jilin Branch.
