A Study On The Impacts Of Diversity Of Partnership And Network Structure On Knowledge Creation

With the knowledge economy era, knowledge is considered a source of competitiveadvantage. How to create new knowledge by more and more attention. However, thecurrent research team knowledge creation results are not satisfactory in enterprise anduniversities. How to improve the team knowledge creation and individual performancethrough various means of, become key challenges for enterprise and universities.Therefore, to explore factors affecting the performance of knowledge creation isnecessary.In this paper, we combine the two perspectives of team members diversity andnetwork structure to study the factors affecting the performance of knowledge creation.We choose the diversity of physical distance and the diversity of collaboration time asdiversity of partnership indexes, and also netwok centrality and density, as relationshipnetwork structures indexes，and the journal impact factor to measure the performance ofteam knowledge creation. We selected325scholars’ research cooperation networks inschool of business of27universities in American,and the information of papers publishedin ISI between2000-2009.After statistical processing,we collected893sets of data,andestablished the database of research cooperation network. Then, we modeled cooperativenetworks based on their co-authorships. After empirical study, the results show effects ofthe four research indexes and their interaction on knowledge creation performance: thediversity of physical distance hasn`t a significant effect on knowledge creation; thediversity of collaboration time centrality has positive relationships with knowledgecreation,so does network centrality; but networks density has negative effect onknowledge creation performance; the diversity of partnership enhance networks densitynegative effect on knowledge creation performance, however don`t mediate centralityeffect.Finally, this paper discussed the results and pointed out directions of future research.
