A Study On The Industrial Restructuring And Growth In Industry Of Gansu

Industrial structure is closely related to the industrial growth. The constantlyupgrading of industrial structure is the general law of industrial growth, while therational industrial structure greatly guarantees the healthy industrial development of acountry or a region on long-term basis. It has been inferred from the world economicdevelopment that the rapid industrial growth always goes together with the timelyadjustment of industrial structure. Therefore, it has been the goal pursued by allcountries and regions across the world, especially the developing economies toactively promote and adjust the industrial structure to be more rational and advancedin order to speed up the economic development and obtain the desired benefit.With years’ development since the foundation of new China, Gansu has formed arelatively complete industrial system. However, problems exist, such as the discordantof industrial department, irrationality of the industrial structure, etc. In recent years,the Chinese government has been focusing on transforming the pattern of economicdevelopment and adjusting the economic structure. Under such circumstance, Gansushould seize this opportunity and vigorously adjust the industrial structure to promotethe industrial growth with the resolution to ultimately realize the sustainabledevelopment of economy.In this thesis, the author first introduced the theory of industrial structure, andmade an outline of the general trend of industrial structure evolution in the process ofindustrialization. Then, the author reviewed the historical industrial development ofGansu and analyzed the status quo and problems of Gansu’s industrial structure. Thecore of the thesis is that the author built the stochastic frontier production functionmodel and decomposed the industrial total factor productivity into technical progress,technical efficiency, scale effect and factor allocative efficiency. The author verifiedwhether the structure bonus, i.e. the positive impact of the structure adjustment on theproductivity growth, exists in Gansu’s industrial growth by calculating thecontribution rate of the factor allocative efficiency in Gansu’s industrial growth sincethe reform and opening up. What’s more, based on the conclusions the author put forward policy suggestions on how to further promote the adjustment of industrialstructure in Gansu in order to drive the industrial growth.
