As the birthplace of the modern market, periodic market has a long history whetherin domestic or overseas. In China’s vast rural areas and minority areas, the prevalence ofthe market forms are still a large number of periodic markets scattered in various urbanand rural areas. As the primary market of the minority areas market system, periodicmarket plays an important role in people’s daily production and living. Why periodicmarket trading pattern in the modernization process has not disappeared but is stillenduring?This is the core issue of this study.This article is under the background that our country has increased the intensity ofthe western development and western regional economic development is relativelybackward. This paper aims to further analyze the market problem of minority areas froma new perspective of non-economic factor based on the case study of Xiangxi minorityperiodic market, with the periodic market trading behaviors as the research staring point.This paper discussed the minority regional market trading behavior on the newperspective and path and in-depth research into the minority internal areas. We havebecome accustomed to consider the market with some used economic factors, with theinherent economic theories to analyze the market problems. But in reality, the variousnon-economic factors also influence the market operation and development. This articlefirst elaborated the generation and development of the minority regional periodic market.Secondly it made theory analysis of the market transaction contract choice and optimaldecision, and got the result that periodic market belongs to the favor type transactionand contract arrangement. Again it analyzed under this contract arrangement what arethe main non-economic factors influencing the trading behavior of transactionparticipators in periodic market. Finally, it combined with the minority area of Xiangxiperiodic market as a case study, and made related conclusions and prospects.The innovation of this paper is mainly reflected in the research perspective andcontent, the main conclusion drawn by the study is that as the primary market of theminority areas, periodic market has its unique operation mode, it runs under the impactof minorities ethics, culture and customs, as well as the impact of ideology, comparedwith the modern central market of large and medium-sized cities which runs mostlyunder the impact of economic factors. These non-economic factors reduce opportunisticmotives and further save transaction costs through the impact on the trading behavior ofthe transaction participators, and make the contractual arrangements of periodic marketbe reasonable, effective and enduring. But meanwhile the contract also has a boundary,when exceeds the boundary range, the efficacy of non-economic factors to reduce thetransaction costs is not so significant.
