At present, the Sino-US relations is in the most mature and most stableperiod of development since the two countries established diplomaticrelations, Sino-US long-term trade relations play the important role ofthe rudder stone. Sino-US economic and trade cooperation between the twocountries is win-win choice. According to Chinese statistics, Sino-UStrade in2010reached$,386,514,000,000, and China and the United Statesare each other’s important trade partner countries.With the development of Sino-US trade, the structure of Sino-US tradeis paid to more attention. A country’s trade structure san reflect acountry’s level of economic development, domestic industrial developmentand competitiveness of domestic enterprises in the internationalmarket.Sino-US trade structure of export commodities has been achievedmainly the change from primary products to manufactured goods and the mainshift to capital-and technology-intensive products from labor-intensiveproducts. China and the United States merchandise trade structure aregradually optimized. The competitiveness of Chinese goods in the worldmarket is growing. China is already worthy of the name of the largesttrading partner and followed by transition to trade power is an importantgoal of trade structure optimization. The United States is China’simportant trading partners. To some extent,commodity trade structurebetween China and the United States can reflect the current level ofChinese merchandise trade, the competitiveness of Chinese goods in theinternational market and the status of China in the international divisionof labor. As the world’s largest developed country and developing country,there are strong complementarities between the two countries in themerchandise trade structure and they should adjust to each other’s tradepolicy and strengthen mutual trade, which is good to common interest ofthe people from these two countries. This article is based on the idea of the whole paper.On the structure of Sino-US merchandise trade, the paper is dividedinto three parts: the first part is a part of introduction and theoreticalbasis, including the contents of the paper first、second chapter, mainlyon the background and significance of the topics, research methods andresearch ideas, as well as previous research on the structure of Sino-UStrade, and domestic and international research on merchandise tradestructure conditions are summarized. The second part of the empiricalanalysis consists mainly of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth chapters.The third chapter analysis the development of the Sino-US trade from theperspective of the Sino-US trade size, trade dependence, the bilateraltrade intensity, taking into SITC coding classifications of commoditiesand the export and import situation of Sino-US trade goods in the majorcategories. The fourth chapter is on the correlation analysis of adoptingLawrence index, intra-industry trade index, the index of tradecompetitiveness and trade complementarities index, to analysis thefluctuation of the Sino-US trade structure, the mode structure ofmerchandise trade, trade competitiveness and complementarities of thestructure of merchandise. The fifth, sixth chapter on the most watchedproblems on the Sino-US trade imbalance and trade frictions caused bySino-US trade structural changes and the analysis of Sino-US merchandisetrade structure. The third part, the seventh chapter of the thesis, isthe suggestions section of adjusting and optimizing the Sino-USmerchandise trade structure and based on the analysis from the Sino-UStrade commodity structure, some suggestions is proposed to adjust theSino-US merchandise trade structure from the an angle of intra-industrytrade and to solve Sino-US trade friction issues.
