Geography Information System (GIS) grew out of computer-aided mapping inthe1960s. The application of GIS originated in the United States and Canada andspread to all corners of the world and almost all walks of life such as transportation, planning, land planning, water conservancy and urban management, etc. In a word,it has become an indispensable instrument in managing space data.. With the regulation of keeping minimum area of the farmland came out, theimportance of managing the cultivated land and reserved farmland resources beganto emerge. As a result, a new subject of research into the scientific managementand evaluation of reserved farmland resources came into being. The establishmentof a reserved farmland resources management system will facilitate the dailyinquiry, statistical analysis, scientific evaluation. After a review of the inception and development of land evaluation and thestatus of the related study at home and abroad in this area, the present thesisintroduces a research report which realized the qualitative evaluation of reservedland resources. It established a Land Reserved Resources Management System(LRRMS) based on Oracle by means of ArcEngine, after surveying methods andprocedures of land resources management adopted by Land Resource Management,Tongshan District of Xuzhou City, and employing appropriate developmentplatform and instruments. The study focuses on the key technologies in buildingsuch modules as Map Display Searching, Buffer Analysis, Net Work Connectionand LRRMS on the basis of ArcEngine. It finds that the combination of map information and characteristics inLRRMS based on ArcEngine serves all the functions of current reserved landresources management. The originality of the study lies in the use of maps on theInternet and qualitative analysis of space, which lays a solid foundation for thefollowing-up studies.
