A Comparative And Competitive Analysis On Services Trade Between China And Asean-5’

Service trade has become one of the severe areas of the cooperation between China and ASEAN. How to achieve complementary advantages in the intense competition, and to improve the competitiveness of regional trade in services, will be an important practical analysis. On the market of service trade, the international competitiveness of China and ASEAN-5’is limited, while a similar stage of economic development creates competitions in both sides of various service sectors. Otherwise, they have different advantages of services industry foundation for the development. Hence there are a lot of opportunities for cooperation. Based on the opportunities and challenges of bilateral service trade between China and ASEAN-5’, this paper attempts to use the TC index, the intra-industry trade index, the revealed comparative advantage index and the trade complementarity index to analyze the Competition and the Cooperation between China and ASEAN-5’. At last, some policy suggestions are therefore made based on the result of the research. This paper is no longer confined to the study of the competitiveness of the country’s overall services trade, but extends to a specific service sector, and a comparative analysis on services trade is divided into inter-industry and intra-industry.
