As the continuous development of global economics and increasingly enhancingof the people s wearing especially in footwear aspect, the comfort, breathability,environmental friendly and simpleness is a general trend for footwear market, whichleads the shoes material market to quick response accordingly, so for a shoes materialcompany s survival and development, it also needs t change accordingly. DTcompany is such a shoes material company under this background.DT company is a professional shoes materials production and supply companywith sales headquater located in America, administrative headquater in HongKong,and R&D base in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province. The main business of thiscompany is to produce high-end and high value-added shoes materials, includinglining mesh, upper mesh, upper reinforcement and proofed breathable materials.The products are sold to some famous sports brands, such as Adidas, Nike, Columbiaetc. In order to well compete in the market, the company decided to develop a kind ofmaterial with high-permeability waterproof membrane for sports and hiking shoes.Taking performance, market acceptance, cost and profit into account, the companyfinally chose a new waterproof and breathable membrane from a Germancompany,namely XT MICRON25. But considering the specificity of using thematerial as linings, the membrane should be laminated a layer of TRICOT, which isknitted mesh for strengthening the materials. Whether the adhesive lamination processis good or bad will directly influence the qualification of this waterproof andbreathable membrane and the market acceptance.This paper adopts the modern quality management theory to analyze anddemonstrate our theory, with foundation of total quality management theory. We focuson the quality of process of researching and developing new products, and take STproduct’s research and development as an example, use all kinds of quality controltools to make sure the products’ quality is at the best level and the company gainsstable quality in mass production period and customer satisfaction.The first part of this paper is introduction, putting forward the background andsignificance of the topic and confirming the research direction. The second part is tointroduce the company situation and development situation of new product XTMICRON25and TRICOT. The third part will illustrate the mass defects of XTMICRON25and TRICOT in the development process, as well as analyze the quality problems and reasons with Fishbone Diagram. The forth part will propose the basicstrategies to improve the new process according to the reasons of quality problems,indicating that we should focus on customer requirements with employing qualitydesigning basis to make sure our products will satisfy the market and customers.Besides, working together with suppliers to improve the new technical process andactively consulting the suppliers is also very important steps. Finally, the companyshould have a products trial-produce verification for the improved process to certainthe technical indexes for production.Our research results prove that during the developing process of XTMICCRON25and TRICOT, using all kinds of quality control analysis to better theproduct technical indexes will shorten the developing period and low down the cost,which will help the company get market advantages and more opportunities.
