Research On Evaluation For It Project Organization Based On Entropy Theory

At present the number of IT project is growing rapidly, the rationality of project organization is an important influence factor of Project Success. How to evaluate the rationality of IT project organization become a research subject. Like the function of representative organization structure state, the size of entropy can reflect the state of the organization. If the system is in a state, the value of its entropy is sure. The size of the entropy is the measurement of the complexity, confusion and uncertainty of the organization, so entropy theory has become an effective tool in evaluation of organization structure.This paper introduces three common types of IT project organization structure, they are functional organization structure and project organization structure and matrix organization structure, and analyzes their respective advantages and disadvantages. Using structure entropy model quantitatively evaluate the ordered degree of project organization structure from the speed and accuracy of information flow; Using flexible entropy model quantitatively evaluate the environment adaptability of the IT project organization structure from dynamic angle; Using complexity entropy model measure the complexity of IT project organization structure from information conversion, function complexity and structural complexity three aspects. By this means, the three organization structures which are functional organization structure and project organization structure and matrix organization structure are appraised and further analysis is done.The empirical research of this paper indicates that matrix organization is the best and the project type is superior to functional type in the aspects of the ordered degree and flexibility of the three project organization types; matrix mode organization is better than the project organization, the project organization is better than the functional organization in the aspects of organizational complexity. However, matrix organization structure is superior to project organization and project organization is superior to functional organization in the unity of organization. Based on the entropy theory, this paper introduces the entropy models to evaluate IT project organization structure, and further analysis is done. This paper provides some reference methods for the evaluation of IT project organization structure and has the certain guiding significance for the practice of IT project organization.
