A Study On The Dilemma And Measures Of The Urban’s Knowledge Industry In China

In the1980s and1990s, driven by the movement of knowledge-based economy and knowledge management, encouragement in scientific research on knowledge cultivation and innovation began appearing and the concept of "knowledge city" that advocated greatly developing the knowledge-based industries based on knowledge initially formed in western developed countries. With the guidance of this concept, some original industrial cities or cities in the "decline" have rapidly succeeded in converting into knowledge cities whose development experience fully shows that knowledge-based industry is the key element of urban transformation, upgrading and sustainable development. In the past30years, many cities in our country have built dozens of high-tech development zones, introduced foreign advanced technology and production capacity, and greatly developed the knowledge-based industries built on high technology and knowledge. However, the knowledge-based industries in our cities still have some problems such as the weak strength, uneven development and potential for further development suffering from a severe test, compared with that in successful global knowledge cities. It becomes a major issue for managers of cities that how to develop the knowledge-based industries better, achieve industrial upgrading relying on knowledge-based industries so as to convert the mode of economic growth. The successful experience of the development of knowledge-based industries in foreign knowledge cities provides a useful reference for the development of knowledge-based industries in our knowledge cities.Therefore, this article is based on the theory of the development of knowledge city, learns from the successful experience of the development of knowledge-based industries in global knowledge cities, analyzes the plight of the development of knowledge-based industries in our cities and then explores the development path. It elaborates from the following sections:First, the connotation and the features of the knowledge-based industries are summarized, based on the summary and analysis of the previous meaning of knowledge-based industries. Second, explain the meaning of the knowledge city and then analyze the inter-relationship between knowledge-based industries and knowledge city. Third, select the Pittsburgh, Seoul and London for case study and summarize the experience of the development of their knowledge-based industries. Forth, summarize the overall situation of the development of knowledge-based industries in our cities from a macro perspective, and analyze the dilemma of development. Fifth, explore the overall ideas and specific measures of the development of knowledge-based industries in our cities based on the above analysis.
