| One of the focal questions in the field of strategic management is:what are the determinants of corporate performance? Strategic management researchers have tended to divide the potential sources of enterprise profitability broadly into two levels:the business level and the corporate level. In this paper, the author focuses on the corporate level to explore the controversial issue:whether diversification can bring economic benefits to enterprises? And how?On the basis of analyzing and summarizing the traditional theories of diversification, this paper introduces the enterprise competence theory and the enterprise behavior adaptation theory into the diversification analytical framework, and constructs a research framework in the view of organizational learning.In the framework, we will study the influence of diversification experience on diversification performance, and introduce buffer variable——the similarity of absorbency&experience. The absorptive capacity not only refers to the ability of enterprises to recognize and acquire the new knowledge, but also their ability to combine the existing and new knowledge, innovate and apply them to commercial purposes.(Kumar,2002) The similarity of experience means the level of similarity between current diversification and before. Before constructing the framework, we need theory deduction and believe (1) the performance of enterprise diversification depends on the ability of diversification;(2) the ability of diversification is acquired in organizational learning.According to the framework, the study mainly deals with the following content:Firstly, the historical evolvement of diversification both here and abroad is introduced in this paper. Indicate the current situation and characteristic; introduce the research system and methods. The second part of paper reviews and summarizes the study about the diversified strategy based on organizational learning, establishes the theoretical foundation. The third part presents the assumptions and theoretical models on the basis of the review and theoretical analysis. The fourth part of this paper concerns the variables involved and measurement methods, and evaluates117sample enterprise data collected. The fifth part is to adopt descriptive statistics, variance analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis, test and analysis of the study of this research hypothesis.We arrive at the following conclusion:the diversification experience has a positive correlation with diversification performance; medium experience similarity has the most significant adjust action on "diversification experience-diversification performance", and strong absorption has better adjust action than week absorption on "diversification experience--diversification performance". The last part of the paper, use of theoretical analysis and empirical result, evaluate the relationship and influencing factor between "diversification experience-diversification performances", and propose some direction for future research on this basis.As for this study the innovation points, is mainly reflected in the following respects:(1) Contribute to the study empirical study about organizational learning. Studying results manifest that:diversification experience plays an active role in diversification performances, which means rich experience, will help to improve the enterprise interests.(2) Put forward enterprise diversified ability theory. For the existing related research has little discourse about enterprise diversified ability, and the current "enterprise diversified ability "does not have a scientific definition, the paper enrich abstract conception.(3)The similarity of experience as a regulated variable. The medium experience similarity has the most significant adjust action on "diversification experience-diversification performance", which means not the experience is the more similarity the better, nor is the difference the larger the better. There is non-linear relationship between them, which enrich organizational learning and the value of diversification theory, and has good guidance significance to management practice.(4) The enterprise absorptive capacity as a regulated variable. The diversification experience has a positive effect on corporate performance in the case of the enterprise with rich absorptive capacity. The study has high academic value not only to the enterprise competence theory but also to diversified theory, and has good guidance to management practice. |
