Low-carbon Urban Construction And Green Evaluation

Huge fortunes are created by modern industrial civilizations, but the eco-environment,which mankind depends for survival, is also destroyed by them. Cities, as the centers ofsocio-economic development, which consume the majority of global energy, are the main areas toproduce greenhouse gases emissions. They produce lots problems, which include: solid wastes,air pollution, water pollution, traffic congestion, noise pollution, poor living environment of cities,etc. In order to improve the environment for human survival and achieve a sustainable socialdevelopment, there is an urgent need to reduce the emissions of polluted air, develop low-carboneconomy and build low-carbon cities.To build low-carbon cities, firstly we need to have a green assessment system which iswell-planned and simple in operation. Then using this system, we can solve the main problemswhich exist during the development of low-carbon cities, and provide scientific and accuratetheory support for sustainable social development. In this paper, referring to the advanced theoryframes that proposed by domestic and international researchers, the author discussed how to builda green assessment system of low-carbon city in the urban zones in Ganzhou City. Thisassessment system includes low-carbon city plan, low-carbon city construction, three stages oflow-carbon city running and10indexes, which will reflect the developmental level of low-carboncity.The paper did the research and evaluation on the urban construction in the urban zones inGanzhou City and found out that there are still some questions exists, though the development oflow-carbon city in Ganzhou is going well. Based on the construction of natural eco-environment,spatial form, industrial structure, low-carbon transportation, low-carbon residential districts andurban management in Ganzhou urban zones, the author provides proposal on the developmentmodel of low-carbon city in Ganzhou.
