With the rapid development of modern grain logistics, the rural grain logistics, as a major component of it, influences the effective links among the whole grain circulation and the development of grain logistics industry in China. However, the economic backward in rural areas, simple grain storage, repeated transportation in intermediate circulation and lacking supporting facilities for the bulk grain conveying has caused a great loss of grain. The situation of "large and whole" and "small and whole" in the subject of grain circulation leads to a series of problems like the low utilization rate of logistics facility and low proficiency, which seriously restrict our development of grain logistics and the food security. Therefore, the research on the operation mode has realistic instructive significance in improving the operation efficiency of rural grain logistics and promoting its development.First, this paper defines the rural grain logistics, introducing the object and range of the research on it. Second, the author used SWOT method to study the development status of the rural grain logistics in China, summarized advantages, disadvantages, opportunities and challenge in its development and put forward corresponding development strategy. Third, the essay also analyzes the operation mode of rural grain logistics from the1949to present through several aspects: logistics subject, logistics channel, logistics information and so on. Based on the Third-Party Logistics and the Supply Chain Theory, a future operation mode is constructed which is dominated by the third-party grain logistics enterprises. On the basis of the reversed benefit theory, the author also makes use of the cost-benefit functions to do a cost-benefit analysis of current operation mode in rural grain logistics in China and establish profit function modes as well as future operation mode profit modes. With Lingo software and comparative analysis, it is concluded that the operation mode, dominated by the third-party grain logistics enterprises has incomparable superiority in reducing the grain logistics cost and increasing the profit. Finally, this article offers some strategies and suggestions to make sure that the rural grain logistics in China may work effectively, including giving full play to governments leading function, accelerating the construction and arrangement of the logistics infrastructure, encouraging integration of rural grain logistics resources as well as promoting the technological innovation and application in grain logistics.
