In modern society, the strength of interpersonal competence has become a newstandard to judge a person, especially in enterprises. The interpersonal competence ofcorporate employees will directly affect their established social network and thebenefits obtained from their social network, thereby affecting employees’ careersuccess. Gender role type is an important concept in the factors that can affectinterpersonal competence. However, in previously related studies, very few scholarsconsidered employees as study subject. Also, there were few studies on typedistribution of gender roles about corporate employees and the research about thattypes of gender role can affect the acquisition of social network benefits through thestrength of interpersonal competence is very scarce.On the basis of literature review, the author constructed the research frameworkconnecting gender role, interpersonal competence with social network benefits, thenput forward the hypothesis. This study considered corporate employees as studysubject and sent questionnaires to them. After collecting those questionnaires, theauthor used SPSS18.0(statistical analysis software) to carry out descriptive analysis,median, correlation and regression analysis. The purpose is to discover therelationships among gender role, interpersonal competence and social networkbenefits.According to data analysis, the author gets the following conclusions:a. The type distribution of gender roles among corporate employees is not equal.There are more androgynous type than undifferentiated type, masculine type andfeminine type, which is similar to the distribution for college students. In this study,the androgynous type numbered the first and the undifferentiated type the second, themasculine type the third, the feminine type the forth. The number for undifferentiatedtype and masculine type is almost the same. The main types of gender role about males are androgynous and masculine staff. There are also many people ofundifferentiated type but less are people of feminine type. The number of each type isranked as feminine type, undifferentiated type, androgynous type and masculine typein ascending order. However, the main types of gender role about females areandrogynous and undifferentiated type. There are also many feminine people, butmasculine people are less. The number of each type is ranked as masculine type,feminine type, undifferentiated type, androgynous type in ascending order. Totally,androgynous type occupies a large proportion among corporate employees.Furthermore, androgynous type among females occupies a larger proportion than thatamong males and it occupies the largest proportion in females. At the same time,masculine type occupies the largest proportion in males.However, the proportion offeminine type is the third in females, less than androgynous type and undifferentiatedtype but more than masculine type.b. There were significant differences among each type of gender role aboutinterpersonal competence of corporate employees. The interpersonal competence ofandrogynous people is the strongest, and the masculine people rank the next. Bothandrogyny and masculine personality have a positive impact on interpersonalcompetence. In other words, the more obvious the androgyny and masculinepersonality is, the stronger the interpersonal competence is. On the opposite, theinterpersonal competence of feminine people and undifferentiated people are weakerand they have a negative impact on interpersonal competence, that is, the moreobvious the feminine and undifferentiated personality is, the weaker the interpersonalcompetence becomes.c. For corporate employees, the interpersonal competence will affect theacquisition of social network benefits. Interpersonal competence has a positive impacton social network benefits. In other words, the stronger the interpersonal competenceis, the more social network benefits can be obtained.d. Gender roles of corporate employees affect social network benefits through theirinterpersonal competence. This study has proved that interpersonal competence is afully mediated variable between gender role and social network benefits.The conclusions of this study can make up for the absence of corporate staff as the research subject in the field of gender role. Also, the conclusions can help enterprisesin such cases as that the enterprises can provide different training according to thetypes of gender role for corporate employees, which can help them to shape excellentpersonality and then benefit for the enterprises. Finally, the author puts forward thelimitations and weaknesses of this study as well as some recommendations for futureresearch.
