Since the adoption of the policy of reform and opening—up to the outside world, the building industry has developed greatly and as the backbone industry it makes further improvement in national economy. However, a huge capacity, tremendous potential, broad prospects and full of vitality’s building market is born. Nevertheless, with rapid growth in the demand of the national economy, the building industry is in the state of excess capacity and decline of the industry concentration ration and competition between the building companies turning to white-hot.Under the surroundings of great competition and challenge, the building companies’strategic management is more and more important. To stay on top of the increasingly keen competition, building companies must plan and implement correctly to its strategy according to its own details.The Sichuan first building company where the author works is an old state-owned construction enterprise. In the past, it did not attach great importance to its strategic management. Because of the guideline of short-term goal and lack of strategic management, it caused the enterprise’s production and operation being hesitant to develop. Since 2006, the company has considered the reality and looks to the future and gains an unprecedented management achievement by executing a series of strategic plans. But facing with an unprecedented achievement, we cannot content with the present situation. Faced with the new internal and external surroundings, we must formulate the more scientific development strategy in order to make the company’s development comprehensive, healthy, fast, coordinated and sustainable. In this thesis, it focuses on how to make further plan and carry out development strategy in order to seek the company’s long-term sustainable development through summarizing performance and experiences.Firstly, the paper reviews and summarizes the company’s main contents and the achievement obtained by advancing the strategic management in the recent four years which includes many of highlights such as "economic entity type", "flat management", "a center, three-point support "the "Big Five assessment system" and so on. Secondly, it irradiates the necessity of a clearer strategic direction for the company under the new market situation and further clarifies the "five necessities "for the implementation of development strategies. Thirdly, it formulates the development strategy, and analyzes domestic macro-environment, industry environment, market environment and enterprise internal resources which the company faced. According to the group’s strategic plan, it puts forward our company’s strategic objectives and outlines our company’s grand blueprint of constructing a "ten billion enterprise." The article uses SWOT analysis to summary the company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and then defines the "market-based expansion primarily, diversification simultaneously, construct strategic alliance, supported by new technology development," as company’s development strategy. Finally, the article offers the relevant measures which will be taken for the established strategies, puts forward "business concept innovation", "achieve business tactic leadership" and other important implementation points.In this regard, through summarizing the strategic management of the Sichuan first building company since 2006 and planning further implementation of the development strategy, we find that it has a positive significance to promote long-term sustainable development for the company. At the same time, the article intends to provide some useful references to a large number of large state-owned building companies for the implementation of the strategic management and to promote the strategic management of building companies in-depth study.
