To traditional scenic spots, the prosperity of tourism market brings not onlyopportunities but also challenges. The traditional scenic area mainly refers to themature and sight-seeing spot which develops before the nineteen eighties medium andhas the domestic first-class natural and human resources. As a result of thedevelopment of a long history and the tourism resources of strong visual and cultureimpact, traditional scenic area has a higher visibility and a stronger image perception.According to the2010tourists, China’s tourism industry issues the first "China top100tourism scenic area" in2011, Beijing the Imperial Palace with12300000touristsranks first, Hunan Zhangjiajie is second, and the Summer Palace is third, thetraditional scenic areas are still the mainstream in tourism market. The Great Wall,Mount Huangshan, Jiuzhaigou and other traditional scenic spots are saturated oroverloaded every year during the golden weeks that has caused serious damage andinfluence to the natural and humanistic resources and the surrounding community.With the upgrading of tourism industry from the sightseeing to the leisure and thechanging of travel demand, the traditional scenic spots also face the product agingproblem, which can not meet the changing needs of tourists. Many visitors areattracted by its reputation and feels “just so so” after sightseeing.For them, once isenough, never second or more times.With the prosperity of tourism market and the challenge of traditional scenic, thevisitor management becomes necessary and important. Visitor management is theprocess that tourism destination managers to use modern management means, bytourists’ responsibility management (i.e., visitor behavior management) and visitorexperience management, achieve the satisfaction of tourists and tourism destination.Visitor management on the one hand improves the quality of visitor experience, on the other hand regulates the behavior of tourists, it realizes the sustainabledevelopment of the scenic area.The present article argues that the traditional scenic spots have their owncharacteristics comparing to the leisure scenic spots in terms of resources, producttype, tourism mode, tourist market, life cycle, management system and so on, thetraditional scenic spots have more suitable method for visitor management. Based onthe analysis of traditional scenic features and tourist management problems, thisarticle tries to constitute a system model of tourist management for the traditionalscenic spots and take The Peach Blossom Spring of Changde as an empirical example.That not only has inspiration and promotion to the visitor management theory, butalso points out the road to revival of the traditional scenic areas.
