A Study Of Industrial Clusters Performance Evaluation Based On DEA Method

Development of market economy in China has spawned the rise of industrialclusters. Industrial cluster is a new form of economy and has played an important rolein the contemporary process of economic development with its division of laboradvantage and other advantages of cluster effect. Although the development ofindustrial clusters in China and achieved good results, but some problems still restrictthe development of industrial clusters. How to evaluate the performance of industrialclusters properly and understand the strengths and weaknesses of the industrial clustersin China, then further improve the problems encountered in the development is the toppriority of the current industrial cluster study.Firstly, theories related to the industrial clusters, performance evaluation,performance evaluation method are described in this paper, and then made a briefsummary of industry cluster development at home and abroad. Secondly, this paperanalyzes the factors affecting the performance of industrial clusters; these factors arethen divided into two major categories respectively: input indicators and outputindicators. The article established a performance evaluation index system of industrialclusters follow by the indicator system constructing principles. In addition, the articlediscusses the advantages and disadvantages of several common performanceevaluation methods of through the comparative analysis. DEA data envelopment analysis is selected as a method of performance evaluation in this article; this paperfurther elaborated the steps of DEA (data envelopment analysis) and calculationmethods. Finally, this article described the petroleum equipment manufacturingindustry cluster status in Baoji City, and conducted an empirical analysis by selecting anumber petroleum equipment manufacturing industry cluster in other areas in China.An analysis of petroleum equipment manufacturing industry cluster in Baoji City onoperating conditions is conducted through the comparative analysis results. Based onthe deficiencies found in analysis process, some measures and recommendations forfurther development of petroleum equipment manufacturing industry cluster in BaojiCity are given. Currently, of many industrial clusters, theories of performanceevaluation for industry cluster are not developed due to the difference betweendifferent geographical differences. This paper enriches the theoretical of industrialclusters performance evaluation. Development problems of petroleum equipmentmanufacturing industry cluster in Baoji City is studied, corresponding countermeasuresand suggestions are put forward. This verified the feasibility and operability of theperformance evaluation system proved the practical significance of this paper.
