Low-carbon trade has become globally recognized and is also the development trendof China’s foreign trade development of a strategic choice. China’s exports ofelectromechanical products is not only the first category of products of China’sexports, is also the products of larger carbon emissions than other products. Therefore, the study of electromechanical products in China foreign trade of low-carbondevelopment will be good to achieve sustainable development of China’s foreign tradeto cope with the challenges of global climate change has important theoretical andpractical significance. We use the method of normative analysis to define the meaning of the trade oflow-carbon, and investigate the environmental effects of trade in low-carbon trade.Trade and low-carbon development not only exist on the import and export tradeJ-curve effect, but also to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, to produce the positiveeffects of environmental welfare. Technological innovation, human capital, andenergy consumption are the main factors to affect the trade embodied carbonemissions; exports of electromechanical products in China indicated that the carbondioxide emissions is much larger than the imports implicit carbon dioxide emissions,China’s mechanical and electrical industries BEET and PTT index value andinternational competitiveness indicators, the rate of net exports significantly positivelyrelated to the mechanical and electrical industries in the international arena has acomparative advantage, namely, the existence of the "pollution haven" phenomenon;Chinese mechanical and electrical products exports embodied carbon is too high willface the developed countries, environment trade barriers a serious challenge. The paper concludes with a trade of low-carbon development strategy of China’smechanical and electrical products: strong development and application of low-carbontechnologies, reducing the energy consumption of the export products, optimize tradestructure, enhancing human capital investment, reduce dependence on foreign trade ofelectromechanical products to create a good policy environment.
