This paper mainly relates to the dimension of complexity in nonlinear dynamics analysis and research,including research and application in the correlation dimension of nonlinear dynamics in the EEG(Electroencephalogram)signal,analyzing the dimensions of complexity in the mental events and emotional changes.This paper analyzes the dimensional complexity of emotional change of the EEG. By-using the algorithm of Grassberger-Procaccia, the correlation dimension can be calculated so as to get the change of the dimensional complexity. The study obtained different correlation dimension values associated with emotional changes by the auditory provocative test on20healthy adult males. By anal yzingθ-wave, it is found that firstly the correlation dimensional values of listening to the unpleasant music is higher than listening to the pleasant music. It means the dimensional complexity of listening to the unpleasant music is more notable than listening to the pleasant music. Secondly, when people listen to the unpleasant music, the correlation dimension value of the left hemisphere is lower than the right hemisphere. while the correlation dimension value of the left hemisphere is higher than the right hemisphere when listening to the pleasant music. It indicates that the dimensional complexity of the right hemisphere is more notable when listening to the unpleasant music. But when listening to the pleasant music, the dimensional complexity of the left hemisphere is more notable.But it is found that firstly the correlation dimensional values of the time interval is3s is higher than the time interval is2s. It means the dimensional complexity of the time interval is3s is more notable than the time interval is2s. Secondly, when the time interval is3s, the correlation dimension value of the left hemisphere is higher than the right hemisphere. while the correlation dimension value of the left hemisphere is lower than the right hemisphere when the time interval is2s. It indicates that the dimensional complexity of the right hemisphere is more notable when the time interval is2s. But when the time interval is3s, the dimensional complexity of the left hemisphere is more notable.It is found that the value of correlation dimension is significantly difference when people listen to unpleasant music and pleasant music and in mental arithmetic through analyzing and processing the EEG signals in the studying of θ wave.There is a clear distinction in the two states.
