VANET (Vehicular ad hoc network-VANET) build up with vehicles and the road-side infrastructure road-side unit, it is an important element of the ITSs (Intelligent Transportation Systems-ITSs). With the share of vehicle condition and road condition VANET can effectively improve the efficiency of transportation and reduce road safety accidents, however, VANET also brought huge security and privacy threats to the vehicle, the driver and passenger. The research of VANET can effectively improve the transportation problem. Due to the particularity of ad hoc network and the particularity of participate entities, the existing privacy and security mechanisms is difficult to deal with, therefore the research of privacy protection and network security issues in VANET has an important research value.Due to the particularity of VANET entities, entities has a high confidentiality requirements about their privacy information. Such as the querying of location-based service the vehicles in course of traveling often require the LBS (Location Base Service-LBS) service request usually the nearest gas station or restaurants etc. When vehicle initiate a querying it don’t want to reveal his real identity information and query location to the server, which can cause unnecessary security threats or disclose his whereabouts. The mainly threats of the VANET also including conditional privacy-preserving. When vehicle share his vehicle conditions and road conditions with other vehicles doesn’t want other vehicle location who send the message. Otherwise in order to avoid mislead from malicious vehicles message also must be traceable.On the basis analysis of VANET network characteristics and privacy threats we propose a location privacy preserving query and a conditional anonymous authentication. The main work of this paper is as follows:1. The traditional privacy-preserving query schemes of mobile devices cannot both protect the privacy information of the vehicle and the service provider database. In this paper, an efficient location service query scheme is proposed by using the Private Information Retrieval (PIR) technology. Vehicles verify other vehicles and roadside base station by anonymous authentication. Meanwhile, the data of the service provider database is confused by the secure coprocessor, and the query service is implemented by the Proxy Re-cryptography (PRC) algorithm. Our scheme can protect the privacy information of both vehicle and service provider database. The analysis shows that this scheme not only achieve the vehicle’s anonymous query, but also protect both the location privacy of vehicles, and the data privacy of service provider databases. Moreover, the communication cost is very low.2. Vehicle need to protect his real identity to other vehicle, otherwise in order to avoid mislead from malicious vehicles must ensure the reliability of message. If a vehicle send a malicious message his real identity can be revealed by TA(Trusted Authority-TA). In this paper we use public key infrastructure and Chinese Remainder Theorem compose a scheme that RSU(Road-Side Unit) can authentication vehicle’s message and TA can reveal his real identity. And with this scheme vehicles can also initiate service from SP(Service Providers-SP) anonymously. Moreover, the communication cost is very low.
