A Research On The Construction Of The Academic Library Reading Culture Based On The Librarians

Reading is one type of cultural communication of the humans’ unique behavior. According to the survey, the rate of civil reading continued to be low, and the college students’ reading pessimistic situation give some cause for concern. Universities are the basis place to cultivate the talents. The university library is the second position of the college students’ reading. Therefore, in order to attract students, the academic library should take its advantage of library collection, information technology and resources, and should create the library reading cultural atmosphere. The librarian is not only the main force to construct reading culture of the university library, but also the soul of the library’s work. The quality of the librarian directly impact on the level of the construction of the academic library reading culture. Based on the extensive literature researches, the paper is begun with the librarians’ literacy, which is combined with the practice of the reading cultural construction of the academic library. Besides, this paper also analyzes the role of the librarian in the reading cultural construction of academic library and proposes some measures to promote the reading cultural construction of the academic library so as to build a scholarly campus.The first part is an introduction, to explain the basis issues of the topic about the research background, research significance, the present research status at home and abroad and the thinking of the research. The second part introduced the concepts and theories of the reading cultural construction of academic library. Starting from the concepts of reading culture and the reading cultural concepts of the academic library, this part points out the significance of the reading cultural construction of the academic library and then analyzes the present status of the construction of academic library reading culture. The third part analyzed the relationship between librarians and the reading culture construction of the academic libraries, and summed up their interaction influence. To the academic library reading culture, librarians are the main builders, leaders and communicators. At the same time, academic library reading culture also can stimulate librarians’ cognitive, norms and excitation.The forth part summarized the librarians literacy problems from the librarians’ service awareness, reading habits, utilitarian reading and academic research, and analyzed internal and external causes of these problems. Social reasons consist of human resource management mechanism, university librarians reading system and funds issues; the reasons of the librarians can be chalked up to lower enthusiasm, poor awareness of the reading guidance, and differences of educational background, etc. The fifth part, proposed the measures to build the academic library reading culture on the foregoing analysis basis. Firstly, improved librarians reading literacy from the following aspects:strengthening the librarians professional reading, writing academic papers positively and establishing the system of librarians reading; Secondly, used the medias such as Internet, mobile phones, to create a good reading culture of net and the mobile library, being the complement with the traditional reading culture. Finally, took the road of teamwork to build a university library reading culture. Librarians must work together and construct the reading culture with the communities; libraries also should work together, which can promote the construction of a regional reading culture and learn from the advanced experiences from foreign university library.
