With the rapid development of Embedded Technology, it makes the function of ARM processor more and more powerful, the volume smaller and smaller, the cost lower and lower. Due to the inherent characteristics of Linux, such as the user can access to the Linux source code freely, also can be modified and transplanted according to their wills and needs flexibly. At the same time, Embedded operating system can support a variety of hardware platforms, so it can be applied to a variety of applications. Embedded products also increased, and gradually infiltrated into every field. In view of the vigorous development of the network technology, the combination of Network technology and Embedded technology has become the direction of reseachers.This paper studies the Embedded technology based on ARM, the hardware platform used ARM processor and peripheral module, operating system used embedded Linux, and regards Mplayer as the network broadcast software, to achieve all of the features of embedded Internet radio based on ARM. The Internet radio has broken away from the products which have been attached to the computer device such as a relatively expensive and bulky. This make the audience who is not familiar with or used to operate PC listen to the various regions of the program through the internet. No matter when and where you are, as long as you can surf the Internet, you can listen to the radio program you loved, break the limitation of time and region, to enjoy the fun for all network. Compared with the traditional radio, the amount of information is greater, more varied, more clearly.First, this paper analyzes the background and current situation, and then introduce the Embedded system and operating system briefly, mainly discuss the development and design of the system. The hardware part mainly introduce the Processor, the ARM core circuit design, Network card driver circuit, display hardware circuit in detail; Software part introduces the overall design ideas of the system software, based on this, included are bootloader, the transplant of the Embedded Linux, the transplant of the Mplayer. In the functional module, describes the development of Audio decoding Module design, Network buffering Module design and player module design, and achieve the expected goal ultimately. The results show that, the Embedded Internet radio based on ARM have achieved the desired design goals, the content of this study has a certain practical value, while in reducing cost and increasing the technology, it not only increase the product value of scientific research, but also increase the core competitiveness of products.
