With the rapid development of network technology and the popularity of the network product, the number of users and types of service continues to increase, the network becomes more and more complex. However, the increasing users and applications bring a heavy burden to the network and cause a decline in network performance. It is necessary to analyze the performance of the network, because the network performance data is a very important reference index to analyze the network and plan new service.Today, the network is so complex that it’s hard to make real-time monitoring, so it’s very important and urgent to develop a monitoring system for the large-scale network. How to deploy the probes according to the environment of network and minimize manual intervention is critical for the performance of the network monitoring. Due to the large network system, the more probe is deployed in the network, the more network performance parameters can be collected. And the existing technology is that the probe requires manual deployment and once the probe is deployed, the position of the probe is no longer changed. But in the real world, the network is dynamic and the environment is complex and changeable, the change of the business or the network topology is likely to influence the performance of the measuring probe. When the probe is lack of the resources, it will produce inaccurate results. The monitoring methods can’t meet the needs of the monitoring system for the large-scale network.The first part of this paper is the research status of virtual monitoring. Then the paper gives key concepts of virtual monitoring. Next, the paper states the design and the structure of the virtual monitoring platform. Subsequently, the paper discusses the implementation of the component of the virtual monitoring platform. At last, the paper makes a conclusion that the virtual monitoring platform is practical and gives the recommendations for the improvement in future.
