The technology of multimedia communication in which includes sound, video and other information, has been widely used in video conferencing, remote monitoring, and intelligent robot systems. With the development of embedded technology and multimedia communications technology, intelligent cleaning robot are draw widely attention because of its advantages of greatly reducing human labor intensity and improving labor efficiency.This paper was mainly to study the technologies of multimedia communication, including the collection and encoding of audio and video, as well as their network-based remote transmission. Based on the research of these technologies, this paper finished the cleaning robot, including the design of mechanical structure and implement of electronic control. In the module of audio, ALSA API was used for audio collection, and speex encoder for its encoding. In the video module, V4L2API was used for video collection, encoding part used the Tiny6410encode-decode API because of the function of its self-hardware encoding and decoding for video. In the transmission module, the library of oRTP and osip and eXosip was applied, the oRTP implements the function of RTP (Real Time Protocol), osip and eXosip implements the function of SIP (Session Initiation Protocol). For the cleaning robot, this paper first made a3D design for its mechanical structure under the help of solidworks software, then based on the STM32board, used C programming language to write program for its electronic control, in the last through the serial port to connect the Tiny6410and STM32board to implement the function of remote control of the robot moving direction. Based on the research of key technologies of embedded communication system and the market demand for intelligent cleaning robot, this paper designed the mechanical structure of cleaning robot, which being called "City Psoriasis Terminator", and implements the remote monitor function for the robot. According to the result of the robot system, the quality of the remote video satisfies the command of basic video communication. Study of this paper has certain reference value for the application research on audio and video communication system, and does a role in promoting the widespread of the intelligent cleaning robot.
