To meet the requirements of the4th Generation mobile communication system that ITU has proposed,3GPP starts to standardize the LTE-Advanced system on the basis of LTE system. TD-LTE-Advanced is the enhanced version of TD-LTE which is supported by China, and it has become one of the international mainstream4th Generation mobile communication systems.To promote system performance and user experience effectively, TD-LTE-Advanced system has widely applied MIMO technology and defined many kinds of transmission mode to meet the requirements of different scenarios. Besides, TD-LTE-Advanced has adopted Relay technology to extend the coverage and promote the throughputs of hotspot. So this paper will do research on the MIMO and Relay technology of TD-LTE-Advanced system and evaluate the performance of these two key technologies to give recommendation on the network deployment of TD-LTE-Advanced system.Firstly, this paper gives an overview of TD-LTE-Advanced system including its architecture and key technologies. And then, this paper focuses on the MIMO and Relay technologies, and do research on them. Secondely, this paper does deep researches on MIMO technology, and different transmission modes and system loads have been taken into consideration to provide detailed system-level evaluation results. What’s more, the influence of the ways of transmitting SRS also has been evaluated. Thirdly, this paper evaluates the radio network performance of TD-LTE-Advanced system with different MIMO technologies and gains the performance of cellular coverage and throughputs of different networking schemes under specific system load. After the research on the MIMO, this paper comes to the Relay technology and mainly focuses on the transmission scheme of Backhaul link in the Relay system. Concerning the bottleneck of Backhaul link, this paper designes a newly transmission scheme of Backhaul link which is based on the angle selection to decrease the correlation of data streams. According to the evaluation results, it is said that the improved transmission scheme can effectively promote the performance of Backhaul link.At the end, this paper summarizes all the work that has been mentioned, and gives future research directions of MIMO and Relay technologies.
