The biggest difference between wireless communication and wired communication is the propagation environment; the wired communication has a stable transmission environment while the wireless communication has a complexity and variability environment. This will bring a huge amount of computation and difficulties for the network analysis. The propagation is proposed to solve the problem that network analysis of the complex environment; and the most influential factor to the model is the propagation loss. In the actual analysis, the propagation loss is directly related to the propagation environment and is an important basic reference for calculating link indicators and analyzing network performance. Thus, the propagation loss is the premise of analyzing other important parameters of the network. The prediction of the propagation loss is to simulate the energy loss in the transmission path by analyzing the propagation environment and the propagation characteristics. In the prediction of the propagation loss, the algorithm of the loss prediction plays a very important role; thus, the correct use of the prediction algorithm is the foundation of estimating the propagation loss.We mostly use one of the loss algorithms to estimate the propagation loss now. As different algorithms fit different environment, so there will be a problem that the algorithm we chose doesn’t fit the environment we now faced and the propagation loss we calculate is not accurate. Based on the problems above, this paper presents an algorithm that can choose different propagation loss algorithm by different environment adaptively. This paper does a brief introduction to the propagation model firstly, especially analyzes the use of the propagation model and the correction principle. Secondly, analyzes the propagation loss and introduces the algorithm of the loss. At last, analyzes the diffraction loss algorithm in the propagation model. The algorithm has two parts. The first part is to obtain the suitable scene to each diffraction loss algorithm by analyzing each geographical condition’s influence on diffraction loss individually; the second part is the adaptive selection process, this mainly use the machine learning method in pattern recognition-Probabilistic Relational Models. To the algorithm of the effectively transmitting antenna height, we do a brief study. Finally, using the diffraction loss model and effectively transmitting antenna height algorithm, we can predict the diffraction loss of the current environment accurately.
