Multimedia communications and entertainments have become an essential part of our daily life. Through the past years, Video-on-Demand has been more attractive, and become one of the most popular Internet activities. Compared with other Internet applications, video streaming usually supports a large number of clients concurrently, and notoriously consumes more network bandwidth. However, the dramatic development in Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technology observed recently brings more flexibility and extendibility than ever and supports for millions of users over the world.P2P technologies can be implemented directly with Video-on-Demand system. Given that a number of clients access the same online program/video concurrently, sharing their buffers with each other can efficiently alleviate the server’s burden and thus significantly accelerate the downloading speed.By analyzing the application of P2P technology implemented with VoD system, this paper designs a P2P compensated VoD system. In particular, this paper uses clients’VCR control operations on the clients’ cache module to characterize the importance of the data segments. With the knowledge of the correlation among each video, we can increase the importance of the segments that are correlated, while lower the importance of the segments that are uncorrelated. This provides the basic idea for the cache replacement algorithm as a contribution of this study.In addition, this paper considers system’s commercial value by adding advertising spots. In order to improve clients’ satisfaction of advertising spots and its effectiveness, this paper further analyzes the content of videos using a type of fuzzy language to describe the advertisement content, which allows us to improve the feasibility of calculating correlation of videos related to advising spots.
