Study On The Risks Of Communication And Solutions In A Meditated Society

Today a meditated society is witnessing advanced medium. The way of mediatedexistence makes people get known of information and society by virtue of medium. Thecharacteristics of ‘mediated’ reflect the demand of social development and any nations andindividuals cannot decline it. Unlike a traditional society, advanced technology andcivilization give rise to risks. At the same time, a mediated society is just a risk society,which is parallel to the development of society.In a mediated society, communication has characteristics as follows: time-spacedistanciation, widely communication and the environment exists between virtual and reality.This risk can be reflected in the process of information communication through Internet,which shows the communication of international rumors. The reasons of producinginternational rumors stem from the reality of psychological and social reasons, and also fromthe difference of place between readers and information, which leads to the social risks ofdisembeded information.This essay gives an example of international rumor event ‘Unvalued Cakes’ inDecember,2012. This article illustrates the existence of social risks in the process ofcommunication and comes up with the solutions. The Police of YueYang in HuNan provinceand the government of XinJiang response to the rumor event at the first time and clarify theevent, accordingly alleviates the risks.‘Rumors stop in publicizing information’, andpublicizing information is a best way to alleviate the rumors. Publicizing information is animportant symbol of democratized development and advancement in a society. Publicizinginformation reflects the transition of governmental responsibilities and views, and makessense further.However, in a mediated society if the confuses of public cannot be alleviated by justpublicizing information and ‘refuting rumors’，rumors can even broaden gradually in turn.Therefore, the broaden of risks about information communication are also reflected in socialrisks of a mediated society. Carrying out a system to response to the risks of communication is an important measure of perfecting international environment. Confronted with the risks ofcommunication in a mediated society, there are four aspects as follows: building a system ofpublicizing governmental information and constructing by virtues of the rule of law;improving media’s social responsibilities and enhance professionalism of journalism; givingfull play to the role of social organizations; improving people’s media literacy and criticism.Certainly, the disappearance and decrease of international rumors is a long-term processand also cannot disappear thoroughly. Refuting rumors and administrating rumors is notshort-term. To response to international rumors can help to push socialism politics civilizationat a higher level and build sound democratic environment in the rule of law. As to thedevelopment of the area, XinJiang is now experiencing an important stage ofgreat-leap-forward development. It makes important to maintain economic development andkeep society peaceful and stable. Therefore, risks can be alleviated effectually through kindsof efforts and replying to social risks actively. In the long run, disappearing rumors needs toget people known about XinJiang; increase objective reports to eliminate imbalance ofinformation and demonstrate the true image of XinJiang. In this way, it can improve itscultural soft strength, and make contributions to XinJiang’s great-leap-forward developmentfurther.
