The gesture associated with the language as a visual language can help to strengthenand complement the effect on the expression of natural language in conversation. Thereal-time synthesis realization by the computer can effectively improve the sense ofreality of human-computer interaction. This paper puts forward the gesture animationsynthesis method based on key-frame interpolation among primitive movementelements by analyzing the related technology and theory of gesture synthesis, especiallyon the details maintaining and movement smoothing during the synthesis of thelanguage associated gesture.The main research work of this paper is shown as follows:First of all, we reviewed the gesture animation and human motion synthesis status, andput forward the concept of primitive gesture elements by analyzing the characteristics ofthe gesture associated language.Secondly, in order to meet the coordinated expression of gestures and natural languagerequirements and maintain the movement details in the process of synthesis, the gestureprimitive movement element model was taken into the processing of modeling gesturebehaviors. Then the structure of the primitive movement element was described bytagging key-frames. This method can provide the sequence and structure information ofthe primitive movement element to effectively keep the motion detail by applied to themotion synthesis process.In the motion synthesis process, this paper resolved the optimal position of transitionalkey frame problem and put forwards the motion smoothing method based on key framesimilarity threshold by the analysis of the primitive movement. The method can adjustthe motion synthesis speed and rhythm to generate realistic animation of virtual humangesture by adjusting the similarity threshold control key frame interpolation coefficientsand number.Finally, it proved that this research can realize the coordinated expression of thegestures and language and improve the sense of reality of gesture animation synthesis,through the system implementation and the results. The research results have wideapplication space and better scientific significance in virtual community, educationtraining, medical research, electronic commerce, network video collaborative andentertainment applications.
