With the rapid development of the domestic economy and the World Trade, Water transportation is increasingly busy, which greatly improves the frequency of occurrence of maritime accidents. The maritime accidents always occur suddenly and in adverse weather conditions such as fog or in the period that has poor light condition, such as night. And the accident sites are always far away from land, which has brought great trouble for knowing the scene of the accident sites and doing the efficient rescue. Therefore, a powerful technique which can exclude the impact of adverse weather conditions and effectively all-weather monitor the water target is needed.Multi-band imaging is imaging the same target scene at the same time by multi-sensors which are in the different bands, it combines effective information of different bands, get an image that contains more effective information, which can improve the target recognition rate. It can overcome the limitations of single-band imaging, make the fusion image a better visual effect and enhance the detection performance and fault tolerance of the whole system.The paper has done a detailed study of the multi-band imaging technique and the water target image features, applies the multi-band imaging technique to the monitoring of the water target, designs and builds the water target multi-band real-time image processing system. For the hardware portion of the system, the paper designs and builds the image processing platform based on DM642, independently completes the design of schematic and PCB diagram, the work of circuit welding and the test of circuit, designs and completes the image processing software algorithms on the image processing platform. For the software portion of the system, on the basis of the characteristics of water target infrared image and the existing pseudo-color enhancement, a new infrared image pseudo-color coding method bases on region recognition was proposed. For the fusion of multi-band imaging, the paper does the research of methods and principles, analyzes the different effects.After lots of long time tests and experiments, verify the technical feasibility of the program and the reliability of the system. The system is capable of stable operation for a long time in the field, complete the multi-band image acquisition, image processing and image display, the image effects and system performance can all meet the requirements of effectively all-weather monitoring of the water target.
